About Us
Focused on addressing wrongful convictions, ICLSU confronts the reality that innocent people, disproportionately from Black and Latinx communities, are unjustly imprisoned due to systemic failures in the legal system. In Louisiana, the majority of DNA-based exonerations stem from mistaken eyewitness identifications, with some individuals even sentenced to death, underscoring the grave consequences of these errors. The Innocence Club at LSU responds through education, advocacy, and outreach to expose the causes of wrongful convictions and push for meaningful reform. Through fundraising, we also support organizations within The Innocence Network, helping provide legal, investigative, and reentry resources for exonerees and their families.
