Nominated for Student Organization of the year, four years in a row, Animal Care for a Cause is established for the expressed purpose of becoming an advocate for abandoned and neglected animals. As mostly all humane societies and rescue organizations are non-profit organizations, our plan is to hold fundraisers to raise money which will be used to donate funds and products to local humane societies and rescue organizations. These societies are independent organizations that try to provide veterinary care, fostering, adoption, and so much more to the best of their ability but rely on the support and donations of their community. Our goal is not only to donate to these organizations, but to also actively volunteer our time and services to them. It is our plan to serve as a voice for those who don't have one while raising awareness against the broad spectrum of animal cruelty and attracting attention to the services that were built to benefit animals throughout a community.

Brain Exercise Initiative is a research-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit service organization that utilizes simple math, writing, and reading-aloud exercises as an intervention to improve cognitive function in assisted-living facility residents with Alzheimer's Disease. Pioneered by neuroscientist Dr. Ryuta Kawashima, it has been found that doing these simple brain exercises for just 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week, caused marked improvements for those with Alzheimer's Disease. The gentle mental activities Dr. Kawashima used activated the prefrontal cortex, the control center for memory, cognition, and planning.

Drawing from this groundbreaking research, Brain Exercise Initiative at LSU strives to create an intergenerational service opportunity in which LSU students hold brain exercise programs at retirement homes in the Baton Rouge community. We use daily packets which include simple math, writing, and "read-alouds" that are completed by each elder with the guidance of LSU student volunteers. Not only does Brain Exercise Initiative at LSU hope to improve the memory of those suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia but we also create an invaluable, all-too-rare avenue for intergenerational service, discussion, and collaboration. Volunteer with us to help more seniors remember and thrive!

Patients with blood cancers and life-threatening blood diseases rely on stem-cell or bone marrow donors when chemotherapy or radiation treatments fail.

In order for patients to receive a generous donor, the patient and donor's DNA must be similar enough, or "match." Matches are usually found within one's own ethnic/race group.

Our mission is to diversify our pool of donors! NMDP-LSU will be in the Quad, once a month, to promote people from all walks of life to join the registry.

This is a student-led mental health initiative aimed to improve general mental wellness of the student body and allow our students to be a voice for how we as a university can promote student wellness and mental health services. The Wellness Project was developed for three primary purposes:

1. Community building
-This club provides an open space to meet other students facing similar issues and build relationships. Being surrounded by students and peers who are going through the college process with you can create a connection that you may not be able to make with a professional therapist or counselor.
-We host events, meetings, talk sessions, and activities that build and reinforce this community aspect where people can share their stories and make friends.
-We, the exec board, as well as members within the club understand how you are feeling and do not want you to feel alone with what you are going through. We are here for you when you feel like you are not being heard or patiently waiting for professional help.

2. Breaking the Stigma through Our System
-We understand it can be difficult to ask for mental health assistance as stigma and societal judgment can deter students from seeking out resources in the first place.

Our system:
-We have an anonymous form on our social media page that students can fill out to discuss any personal problems they might have without having to reveal their identity.
-Our executive team looks at these forms daily and compiles a list of all student problems that need to be addressed.
-We then send it over to LSU resources like the student health center, the wellness hub, and professionals who will give us insight into how to address your specific problem.
-At our club meetings, we then read out anonymous submissions and provide solutions, at-home techniques, speakers, PowerPoints, and activities that students can use in their own lives to help themselves as well as friends, family members, or even strangers who may be going through a similar problem. This information will also be regularly posted on our Instagram page.

3. Providing Knowledge, Partnering, Professional Training, Committees
-We understand that navigating through all the mental health resources on campus can be daunting, exhausting, and stressful, which is why we are here to make the process easier for you.

-Knowledge: Our Instagram provides step-by-step guides on how to navigate through every single mental health resource on campus. We also provide mental health tips, organization collabs, event dates, mental health quizzes, and more through our social media pages.

-Partnering: We strive to partner with other clubs, organizations, and initiatives on campus as well as the student health center and wellness hub to provide you with the best resources and events on campus.

-Training: We, the Executive board, are trained in three trainings (SPR, Wellness Champions, and QPR).
-We offer dates provided by the student health center and wellness hub that we
direct students who would like to be professionally trained and certified as well.

-Our club will recognize students who complete training certifications from one of the three trainings described above through gold, silver, and bronze membership statuses.

The Louisiana State University Service-Dog Training and Education Program, known as STEP@LSU for short, is a advocacy and service organization that focuses on educating the community, promoting service dog/disability awareness, and training service dogs for people with disabilities. This Registered Student Organization allows students the opportunity to raise and train future service dogs, fundraise for the club, educate others, and establish a community on campus/in Baton Rouge.

We train our future service dogs in conjunction with Canine Companions, a non-profit organization that provides trained service dogs to people with disabilities at no cost. The organization provides service dogs to adults, children, and veterans with disabilities, and facility dogs to professionals working in healthcare, criminal justice, and educational settings. STEP@LSU puppies represent both Canine Companions and LSU, wearing yellow and blue around our LSU campus and Baton Rouge community. It is of the highest importance that we hold our puppies and their raisers to high standards, always making sure our future service dogs are loved, well cared for, and on their best behavior.

Here at LSU, we have incorporated music into the lives of others in the community since 1926 through our events, service, and philanthropic efforts. We dedicate our time and service by helping in any way we can to the College of Music and Dramatic Arts. Some of these events include volunteering at Stately Oaks, National Audition Day, Double Reed Day, Bass-Fest and other festivals, nursing home visits, and practice room cleanings. 
We also dedicate a large portion of our time to fundraisers such as Penny Wars, which is a heated financial competition between sections of Tiger Band and even the staff participates! Additionally, we organize rose sales before concerts and operas and sell concessions at basketball and baseball games and gymnastic meets.
However, one of Sigma Alpha Iota's main purposes as a fraternity is philanthropy. In the past, we have donated the money from our fundraisers to the Sunshine Project, Kid's Orchestra, Undergraduate Theatre Alliance, and local band programs such as those affected by Hurricane Harvey and the flood of 2016, as well as other programs in need of financial help. Recently, we established a spring semester scholarship to support the financial needs of outstanding women in the LSU School of Music.
