¡Buenos días!
The Spanish Club wants to lend me a hand with a bilingual literacy project. We are looking for students to serve in multiple roles for a bilingual story hour and tutoring opportunity at a local afterschool program (Gardere Initiative). Last semester, we had Education and Spanish students, but this semester we do not have a Spanish course with a service-learning component and need some students, who can speak Spanish.
I have attached a brief description of the bilingual story hour and tutoring below.
Here is the sign-up sheet:
Bilingual Story Hour Sign Up Sheet.docx
Description:
1. There will be two story readings, one for children in kindergarten through 2nd grade and another for 3rd through 5th grades, with both offered in a bilingual format. LSU Education and Spanish students would read the books.
2. The program would run on a rotation schedule:
a. The K-2 group would start with the story hour, then move to a book-related activity, and finish with homework time or extra literacy and/or math practice.
b. The 3rd-5th grade group would follow the same rotation but in a different order. They would start with homework time, then go to the story hour, and finish with the related activity.
