About Us

The mission of the Asian Students Art Organization (ASAO) is to foster a supportive and inclusive community for Asian American students in the fields of art and design. We aim to celebrate and promote Asian American culture through creative expression while providing opportunities for professional growth and networking. ASAO strives to inspire and empower its members by organizing events that highlight the work of Asian artists and designers, encourage collaboration, and facilitate skill-building. Through our initiatives, we seek to cultivate a space where Asian students' voices are heard, valued, and represented in the art and design world. The Asian Students Art Organization (ASAO) is not about separating students based on ethnicity; instead, it aims to enrich and strengthen the entire community by celebrating diversity and fostering inclusion. By highlighting Asian American culture and promoting the work of Asian artists and designers, ASAO creates a platform that encourages cross-cultural exchange and understanding. Our events and initiatives are open to all students, regardless of background, providing opportunities for everyone to learn, collaborate, and grow. Far from isolating any group, ASAO works to build bridges, offering a space where all community members can appreciate different perspectives and contribute to a more vibrant, inclusive art and design environment.

Members Benefits

To become an official (paid) member of ASAO, individuals must pay yearly or semester dues, which support the planning and execution of various events throughout the academic year. These events include resume and portfolio-building nights, peer workshops, art showcases, and more. Paid members enjoy exclusive benefits, such as discounts and priority access to certain paid events. While most ASAO events are free and open to the public, some special events are reserved for paid members only. You can still attend our events and meetings even if you are not a paid member. Some of our signature annual events include general meetings highlighting the work and influence of Asian designers and artists in Art & Design. Additionally, we host various social gatherings and fundraising activities, all aimed at promoting Asian designer culture on campus and fostering a vibrant, inclusive community.
