Welcome to the Chess Club @ LSU! Our organization is a recreational activities club geared towards anyone who wants to have fun and play chess. We encourage everyone from beginner to intermediate, to advanced chess players to come to our meetings. New to the game? Not a problem, learning is easy! We provide students with an opportunity to learn the game of chess and practice their skills with classmates and friends.

Our club typically meets once a week in the Student Union and plays chess in Free Speech Alley every Friday. However, due to COVID-19, we will only be hosting weekly tournaments on lichess.org for Fall 2020. Links to these tournaments will be sent out in an email every week. Please refer to our club calendar for this semester for more information or contact the club president at isaiza1@lsu.edu. The club calendar can be found in our documents section on our Campuslabs page.

The Chess Club @ LSU also works with the East Baton Rouge community to establish chess clubs in local schools, and help teach the game to middle through high school-aged students. The club also participates in regional Chess Tournaments like the Baton Rouge City Chess Tournament.

DADA aims to promote student growth in fields including animation, visual effects, video games, video production, interactive art, and more. Beginning August 17th, 2022, all prospective DADA members must attend at least one event/meeting in order to be added to the club roster, where an officer will assist with your registration. The Fierce Felines of Rhythm & Roar do fundraise and are looking for sponsors/donors. Fundraiser and sponsor money will go towards uniforms/costumes (as these belong to the team), fees associated with travel, competition fees, etc. Members are also encouraged to fundraise outside of the team's fundraisers to offset personal costs. The dues listed below are for items that will solely belong to you and not the team.

o *These will be used for some performances and events but is team paraphernalia that belongs to you and some will be customized with your individual name.

o All of these are to get you started but in the future keep in mind that you may need to purchase additional tights and gloves on your own as they are delicate items.

Payment Schedule

• Payment 1 Due: May 31st - $150
• Payment 2 Due: June 31st - $150
• Payment 3 Due: July 31st - $150
• Payment 4 Due: Aug 31st - $150

*If you need to work out another payment plan, please reach out to one of the coaches and we will assist you with setting that up. However, we do need monies in along this timeline because our uniforms will be being produced in the summer, without your payment, it may cause delays on your uniform being made and other items being purchased which will cause you to not dance until you can match the team.

LSU Karate is open to anyone who wishes to train and learn more about karate-do. We are a traditional Shotokan dojo affiliated to the JKA/AF. No prior martial arts experience required.
In martial arts, especially Karate, we stress the importance of control at all times to ensure a safe training environment for everyone. There's never been any kind of serious injury in our dojo.
Our instructors are 4th and 2nd degree black-belts with over 10 years of experience each. 
Discipline and diligence are what we strive for in Karate. We understand that each individual progresses at a different pace. The only thing we will ever ask for is your commitment during practice.

The Musical Theatre Club at LSU (MTC@LSU) provides opportunities to LSU's undergraduate and graduate students who have a passion for musical theatre. The organization's mission is to educate students in the area of musical theatre. Additionally, MTC@LSU harnesses an appreciation for the genre of music theatre not only in the students, but in the Baton Rouge community as well.

Club members can gain experience in all areas of musical theatre, from producing, to singing/dancing/acting, to playing in the orchestra, to technical production. In addition to performance opportunities, the club organizes a wide variety of activities throughout the year (within and out of the general membership meeting setting) including, but not limited to: 
ÔùÅ seeing local musical theatre productions
ÔùÅ game nights
ÔùÅ viewings of film musicals, followed by post-show discussions
ÔùÅ workshops

Each year the club produces a series of cabarets and staged readings, as well as at least one fully staged musical and an end-of-the-year revue, Singeaux.

This organization is by the students, for the students, and with the students; MTC@LSU provides students opportunities not only for performing as true triple threats, but also designing, directing, choreographing, and music directing for musical theatre, and more.  The students of MTC@LSU work together to promote the success of musical theatre in the Baton Rouge community.

Tabletop Games Club meets in Patrick F. Taylor Hall (Room 1212) every Friday at 6 PM and is a collective of people that enjoy all sorts of strategic games, from more casual board games such as Coup, Secret Hitler, Codenames, and Resistance, to heavy strategy games such as Terra Mystica, Root, and Blood on the Clocktower. We also have very popular games like Settlers of Catan, Pandemic, Splendor, Coup, and Ticket to Ride. And if board games aren't your thing, we host Blood on the Clocktower every meeting at Midnight! Occasionally we host events and collabs with other clubs to let everyone know there's a community for them.
