The National Council Negro Women (NCNW) is an "organization of organizations," comprised of 330 campus and community-based sections and 33 national women's organizations that enlightens, inspires, and connects more than 2,000,000 women and men. Its mission is to lead, advocate for, and empower women of African descent, their families, and communities. It was founded in 1935 by Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, an influential educator and activist, and for more than fifty years, the iconic Dr. Dorothy Height was president of NCNW.

The LSU Advertising Federation (AdFed) is a student organization on LSU's campus modeled after the professional American Advertising Federation (AAF). Like AAF, our primary mission is "to protect and promote the well-being of advertising."
LSU AdFed accomplishes this by providing guest speakers, conferences, and agency tours to help students grasp a better understanding of the industry as well as develop ideas for creative advertising solutions and trends. These activities also provide successful networking and career opportunities in addition to advances in education regarding cutting-edge advertising practices.

Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) at Louisiana State University is a pre-professional health honor society dedicated to pre-medical students. AED seeks to guide and support pre-medical students on their journey to becoming medical professionals. In addition to providing students with the keys to success during both undergraduate and professional schooling, we offer many volunteer opportunities to serve those most vulnerable in our Baton Rouge community.

AED holds meetings every two weeks, where we expose students to different aspects of the medical field.  At each meeting, guest speakers join us from across the state to share why they pursued medicine and share advice on how to be a successful medical professional. These speakers include medical students, residents, and physicians of numerous specialties, including orthopedic surgery, gastroenterology, psychiatry, cardiology, pediatrics, dermatology, infectious diseases, and more.  Moreover, our members can meet and network with the Deans from LSU New Orleans and LSU Shreveport medical schools at our Dean's Convocation. The deans detail their respective schools and what they look for in applicants, followed by a question and answer session. We also host a Mock Interview with one of the Deans to provide our students with a glimpse into what the medical school interview is like. Additionally, we host a meeting with LSU's Pre-Medical Review Committee, a very important resource for those students looking to apply to medical school. While we strive to expose our members to many aspects of the medical field, we also emphasize the importance of service within our organization; we equip our members with plenty of service opportunities at local hospitals, nursing homes, cancer services centers, youth organizations, public schools, and many more!

Overview: We are the LSU branch of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), an organization dedicated to the research and development of aerospace technology and careers.  While AIAA is a professional society with the resources to help foster and expand careers in aerospace, our membership is not limited to people with technical experience in aerospace. Whether you are a seasoned professional in the field, a student with an aerospace minor, or just interested in the art of falling and missing the ground on the way down, our organization has something for you.
 
Activities: AIAA offers club rocket competitions to gear up towards larger, national-level, rocket competitions as well as smaller-scale activities. Our organization also organizes multiple trips per semester to sites important to the aerospace industry, such as the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the Naval Aviation Museum, and local airshows.  We also have presentations shown by professionals in the aerospace community to our organization in order to expand attendees' knowledge and provide networking opportunities.

Nominated for Student Organization of the year, four years in a row, Animal Care for a Cause is established for the expressed purpose of becoming an advocate for abandoned and neglected animals. As mostly all humane societies and rescue organizations are non-profit organizations, our plan is to hold fundraisers to raise money which will be used to donate funds and products to local humane societies and rescue organizations. These societies are independent organizations that try to provide veterinary care, fostering, adoption, and so much more to the best of their ability but rely on the support and donations of their community. Our goal is not only to donate to these organizations, but to also actively volunteer our time and services to them. It is our plan to serve as a voice for those who don't have one while raising awareness against the broad spectrum of animal cruelty and attracting attention to the services that were built to benefit animals throughout a community.

To become an official (paid) member of ASU, one must pay yearly or semester dues. These help ASU pay for the events we plan during the academic year (such as karaoke nights, street food nights, and hot pot). Paid members obtain certain benefits and discounts at our paid events. A majority of ASU's events are free and open to the public, regardless of membership, but there are occasional events that are open to official (paid) members only. However, unpaid members are still welcome to attend our events and meetings. ASU encourages our members to pay the fee because it helps us as an organization; however we don't necessarily enforce it, because we understand some people don't have the means to pay. ASU is still growing, but some of the mainstay events it hosts every year include Dumpling Night, dinner socials, and general meetings that revolve around the topics of Asian and Asian American cultures. We have different food-related events as well as social and fundraising events. The purpose of these events are to promote Asian American culture on campus.

Asset Management Academy (AMA) is a think tank run by students for students. It is a collaborative and intensive organization created to expand students' knowledge base and improve their research as well as critical thinking skills regarding various topics in asset management. AMA achieves this through individual research projects as well as participation in scholastic/market competitions and LSU Discover Day. Those interested in joining AMA should possess strong time management and analytical skills, passion in asset management and related fields, eagerness to learn, mental readiness to be challenged intellectually, and willingness to work hard.

Membership in AMA is competitive (minimum GPA of 3.75 and ACT/Math of 30) yet open to all freshmen, sophomores and juniors in a variety of disciplines. Students majoring in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, and computer science are highly encouraged to apply. We strive to prepare members for research analyst/portfolio manager as well as advisor roles in the asset management industry. Beta Beta Beta (Tri Beta) is a society for graduate and undergraduate students dedicated to improving the appreciation of biological study and extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research.  Founded in 1922 at Oklahoma City University, there are now more than 670 active TriBeta chapters at universities throughout the United States.
Louisiana State University's Tri Beta chapter, Eta Alpha, was originally founded in 1988 with the goal to connect high-achieving students with an interest in the biological sciences with opportunities for undergraduate research positions.  After a brief hiatus following Hurricane Gustav, the chapter was re-instated in 2014 with the mission to reunite the students and professors in the biology department.  We welcome any students with interests in research, fellowship, and/or developing connections for future endeavors within this indispensible field.

Patients with blood cancers and life-threatening blood diseases rely on stem-cell or bone marrow donors when chemotherapy or radiation treatments fail.

In order for patients to receive a generous donor, the patient and donor's DNA must be similar enough, or "match." Matches are usually found within one's own ethnic/race group.

Brain Exercise Initiative is a research-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit service organization that utilizes simple math, writing, and reading-aloud exercises as an intervention to improve cognitive function in assisted-living facility residents with Alzheimer's Disease. Pioneered by neuroscientist Dr. Ryuta Kawashima, it has been found that doing these simple brain exercises for just 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week, caused marked improvements for those with Alzheimer's Disease. The gentle mental activities Dr. Kawashima used activated the prefrontal cortex, the control center for memory, cognition, and planning.

Drawing from this groundbreaking research, Brain Exercise Initiative at LSU strives to create an intergenerational service opportunity in which LSU students hold brain exercise programs at retirement homes in the Baton Rouge community. We use daily packets which include simple math, writing, and "read-alouds" that are completed by each elder with the guidance of LSU student volunteers. Not only does Brain Exercise Initiative at LSU hope to improve the memory of those suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia but we also create an invaluable, all-too-rare avenue for intergenerational service, discussion, and collaboration. Volunteer with us to help more seniors remember and thrive!

Kesem is the largest national organization dedicated to providing respite and restoring peace in children who have a parent with cancer, and for many children their Camp Kesem experience is a life-changing event. Kesem provides them a community of children with similar experiences and a welcoming environment to have fun and rediscover their childhood. In summer 2018, over 10,000 children attended over 100 week-long sessions of Camp Kesem held at fun and exciting campsites from coast-to-coast.

A. Social Events - The organization shall organize social events for the graduate
student body of the Department. These events shall include, but shall not be
limited to, a social event in the fall semester welcoming new graduate students,
and social events in the spring corresponding to the recruitment of prospective
graduate students.
B. Intellectual Development – ChEGSA shall further advance the intellectual
development of the graduate students by coordinating a Seminar Series, in which
graduate students, or faculty, or prospective faculty, or guest speakers will present
on their research to the rest of the graduate student body and any faculty who
choose to attend.
C. Networking – The graduate students of the Department will greatly benefit
from increased opportunities to network, whether with industry, national
laboratory, or academic researchers. ChEGSA will facilitate the networking by
strengthening ties between the Department and alumni of the department who
earned their advanced degrees in Chemical Engineering. Additionally, the
organization shall communicate to the group when fellow members are presenting

Welcome to the Chess Club @ LSU! Our organization is a recreational activities club geared towards anyone who wants to have fun and play chess. We encourage everyone from beginner to intermediate, to advanced chess players to come to our meetings. New to the game? Not a problem, learning is easy! We provide students with an opportunity to learn the game of chess and practice their skills with classmates and friends.

Our club typically meets once a week in the Student Union and plays chess in Free Speech Alley every Friday. However, due to COVID-19, we will only be hosting weekly tournaments on lichess.org for Fall 2020. Links to these tournaments will be sent out in an email every week. Please refer to our club calendar for this semester for more information or contact the club president at isaiza1@lsu.edu. The Chess Club @ LSU also works with the East Baton Rouge community to establish chess clubs in local schools, and help teach the game to middle through high school-aged students. The club also participates in regional Chess Tournaments like the Baton Rouge City Chess Tournament.

Dance Marathon at LSU is the largest student-run philanthropy on campus. Each year, we commit to raising funds and awareness for our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital, Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital. Participants join a team and pledge to raise a minimum of $250 throughout the year. At the end of our fundraising year, we celebrate our efforts through a 12 hour event in the PMAC! Here we meet Miracle Kids, who are former and current patients that have been treated at Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital and hear their personal accounts of being treated at the hospital. At the end of the event, our year-long fundraising total is revealed. In the last eight years, Dance Marathon at LSU has raised over $1.8 million For All Kids at OLOLCH. Delta Chi was originally founded as a professional law fraternity in 1890 at Cornell University and became a general social fraternity in 1922. The fraternity has grown to 130 chapters and colonies across the United States and Canada, incorporating over 107,000 initiates. Delta Chi's four pillars are friendship, character, justice, and education. The LSU Chapter hosts a variety of social, brotherhood, and philanthropy events each semester. Delta Chi's socials include tailgates, date events, exchanges, and semester parties. The fraternity's philanthropy is the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research, which the chapter supports with events such as a sorority kickball tournament and plate lunch fundraisers. They raised over $257,000 and received "Most Spirited Chapter" at the 2022 Tri Delta St. Jude Celebration. The Fierce Felines of Rhythm & Roar do fundraise and are looking for sponsors/donors. Fundraiser and sponsor money will go towards uniforms/costumes (as these belong to the team), fees associated with travel, competition fees, etc. Members are also encouraged to fundraise outside of the team's fundraisers to offset personal costs. The dues listed below are for items that will solely belong to you and not the team.

*If you need to work out another payment plan, please reach out to one of the coaches and we will assist you with setting that up. However, we do need monies in along this timeline because our uniforms will be being produced in the summer, without your payment, it may cause delays on your uniform being made and other items being purchased which will cause you to not dance until you can match the team.

Film Club LSU will be a gateway to the world of film. We plan on viewing many different genres from many different eras. Film is an important art form, yet it feels like older films are losing popularity. We plan on contacting local theaters and renting out a theatre once a month to view films. Our meetings will occur biweekly. One meeting to decide the film we would like to watch, and the other meeting will be the viewing of the film.

The Food Science Club provides numerous activities intended to promote student involvement in local, regional and national IFT activities. The club also assists student's professional development, help students better understand society, develop teamwork skills and a sense of social responsibility and be prepared for the real world. This is done through organized student activities designed to enhance knowledge of food science, expose students to leadership roles and meet professionals employed in their fields of study.
The Food Science Club encourages interaction among students and faculty in the Department of Food Science. Monthly meetings are held to encourage both professional and social development. 
The Food Science Club welcomes students from all academic disciplines. Members only need to have an interest in the field of food science.
Club dues are $20 per semester or $30 per year for students and $40 per semester or $50 per year for faculty.

SAE International's Collegiate Design Series (CDS) competitions take students beyond textbook theory by enabling them to design, build, and test the performance of a real vehicle and then compete with other students from around the globe in exciting and intense competitions. All CDS competitions prepare undergraduate and graduate engineering students in a variety of disciplines for future employment in mobility-related industries by challenging them with a hands-on, team engineering experience that also requires budgeting, communication, project management, and resource management skills. Students also gain valuable exposure with recruiters from leading companies in the mobility industry to help land their first engineering job after graduation.

All majors are welcome! There are plenty of opportunities on TigerRacing to branch out to other fields such as business, finance, graphic design, marketing, and social work. In terms of engineering, you can see chances to improve your capabilities in manufacturing, 3D design, testing and validation, and communication.
