About Us
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. The organization is a sisterhood of predominantly Black, college educated women. Since its founding more than 300,000 women have joined the organization. The Sorority has over 900 collegiate and alumnae chapters located in the United States, the Arabian Gulf, Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Germany, Jamaica, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the Virgin Islands. The Illustrious Iota Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered as the first Black Greek letter organization on the campus of Louisiana State University. Ten bold, brave and dynamic women chartered the Iota Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. on May 7, 1972.
