About Us
The Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society (SAACS) is a chemistry-oriented organization at LSU, but we are open to students in all scientific fields. Our membership includes undergraduates in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, biological sciences, physics, and other disciplines. SAACS is focused on two things -- to prepare undergraduates for their future careers and to spread an interest for science in the community. The chapter meets twice each month to hear about current research by distinguished scientists, and members travel to regional and national conferences to present their own work. We also give chemistry demonstrations at local schools and city-wide events. Our most recognized demonstration is making ice cream with liquid nitrogen. We have performed this demonstration countless times for our members and our community. We hope to continue this little tradition while at the same time uphold our duties as being a student affiliate network of the American Chemical Society. Website-http://macro.lsu.edu/saacs/
