Roots & Rise: An African Evening of Celebration & Transition

The African Graduate Students Association (AGSA) at Louisiana State University proudly presents Roots & Rise: An African Evening of Celebration & Transition — our annual Gala Night and Leadership Handover Ceremony for the 2025–2026 academic year.

As the season turns and another chapter closes, we gather not just to mark an ending, but to honor the journey. Roots & Rise is an evening that celebrates the depth of our community — the resilience, brilliance, and brotherhood and sisterhood that define AGSA at LSU — while looking forward with hope and purpose to the leadership and vision that lies ahead.

The evening will feature a cultural reception, African cuisine, an awards and recognition ceremony honoring outstanding members and outgoing officers, and a formal leadership handover as we welcome our incoming executive board. The night closes with a vibrant cultural celebration of music, dance, and fellowship.

Whether you are a continuing member, a graduating scholar, or a guest joining us for the first time — this is your evening. Come dressed in your finest African attire or semi-formal wear, and let us celebrate together.
