AGSA’s MISSION

The African Graduate Student Association (AGSA) at Louisiana State University is uniquely positioned to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Africa’s diverse cultures. Our mission is to enrich the educational experience of our members and the wider LSU student body by sharing the rich tapestry of African heritage and contemporary cultural practices.

Our objectives include the following:

1. Cultivating an expansive repository of knowledge about African cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues and disseminating this information through educational events, workshops, and seminars tailored to the interests and academic pursuits of LSU students.

2. Establish AGSA as a vibrant hub for cross-cultural dialog and exchange, where graduate students from various backgrounds can engage in meaningful interactions. We strive to transcend the barriers of ethnicity, nationality, and discipline to build a community that values diversity and inclusivity.

3. Organizing and participating in diverse events, from cultural festivals to academic symposiums, that not only celebrate African cultures but also encourage collaborative learning and understanding among all students. Through these events, we contribute to the global perspective of the LSU community and promote cultural competency.

4. We serve as a caring network for African graduate students and allies at LSU, providing a platform for academic support, professional development, and social engagement.

The Christian Legal Society ("CLS") is an Illinois non-profit corporation with its principal offices in Springfield, Virginia, that exists to inspire, encourage, and equip lawyers and law students, both individually and in community, to proclaim, love and serve Jesus Christ through the study and practice of law, the defense of religious freedom, and the provision of legal assistance to the poor.

Members of the LSU Law community who join this chapter will become part of a Christian community at the law center who studies the Biblical teachings together, here from local Christian legal professionals about living out their faith, fellowship together in events on and off the campus of LSU, and serve our community.

The purpose of CEGO is to provide graduate student representation to the Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences, Department of Environmental Sciences, and the DOCS and ENVS faculty. CEGO also serves in a social capacity and organizes events to promote graduate student social interaction, including tailgates, seafood boils, and mixers. In addition to CEGO's social operations, it provides a number of opportunities for CC&E grad students to get involved in the community; CEGO has a presence at local beach sweeps, education and outreach events (Ocean Commotion, LUMCON's open house, and Earth Day)

OUTLaw's mission is to create a climate at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center
in which it is safe and comfortable to be openly LGBTQIA+. OUTLaw seeks to
create an atmosphere of acceptance and comfort, instill justice, and combat
discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender
expression. The organization exists to provide support and a sense of community

The purpose of the P&A GSO is to support the graduate students of the Department of Physics
and Astronomy at LSU. Its purpose shall include the following
A. Social Events – The Organization shall plan and host events for the graduate student
body of the department. The primary focus of these events will be to improve the
camaraderie of the graduate student body in the department. The scope and types of
events will be specified in bylaws enacted by the governing body (officers and board
members).
B. Intellectual & Professional Development - The Organization shall plan and host activities
to enhance the education of the graduate student body of the department. The scope
and types of activities will be specified in bylaws enacted by the governing body (officers
and board members).
C. Recruiting - The Organization shall assist the department with the planning and hosting
of recruiting activities to enhance the efforts put forth by the department. The scope and
types of activities will be specified in bylaws enacted by the governing body (officers and

D. Advocacy - The Organization shall assist graduate students in the department in
advocating for their needs to the faculty and staff of the department through a small
faculty committee. The process by which these concerns will be communicated to the
P&A GSO will be specified bylaws enacted by the governing body (officers and board
members).

PPCP GSA is established for the purpose of broadening the scientific background of members and to better prepare them for careers in agriculture by exposure to concepts and methods in the two sub-disciplines: Plant Pathology and Crop Physiology. Moreover, to provide students with the opportunity to increase their "soft skills" and their professional development by interacting with other students, organizations and attending networking activities.
