About Us

The Student Association of Black Women Dentists (SABWD) is the first official student chapter of Association of Black Women Dentist: "Sistahs in Dentistry", founded by LSU alumna and dentist, Dr. Sharel Sly. Our mission is to empower, support, and advance Black women pursuing careers in dentistry by fostering academic excellence, promoting professional development, and building a strong sisterhood rooted in mentorship, service, and leadership. As a proud branch of Dr. Sly’s national vision, we are committed to honoring her legacy and creating a lasting community that uplifts and prepares the next generation of Black women dental professionals.
