About Us
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.'s purpose is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, promote unity and friendship among college women, study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social statute, maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of "Service to All Mankind." Under the current leadership of Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover, Alpha Kappa Alpha's International Program is Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service. Chapters focus on serving their surrounding communities through programming and service opportunities. The Eta Kappa Chapter was chartered on the campus of Louisiana State University on December 2, 1972. The chapter contributes to the sorority's international goals by completing community service hours, spearheading service projects, striving for academic excellence, serving on local and regional sorority committees, and modeling exemplary achievement on and off campus.
