About Us
Overview: We are the LSU branch of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), an organization dedicated to the research and development of aerospace technology and careers. While AIAA is a professional society with the resources to help foster and expand careers in aerospace, our membership is not limited to people with technical experience in aerospace. Whether you are a seasoned professional in the field, a student with an aerospace minor, or just interested in the art of falling and missing the ground on the way down, our organization has something for you. Activities: The heart of our organization is our Design Team, and it is open to all members. At the beginning of the fall semester, our design team votes on a project to work on throughout the year, such as a rocket, model plane, or drone. The rest of the school year is spent designing and creating this project. Our organization also organizes roughly one trip per semester to sites important to the aerospace industry, such as the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Naval Aviation Museum. We also have presentations shown by professionals in the aerospace community to our organization in order to expand attendee’s knowledge and provide networking opportunities.
