AGSA’s MISSION

The African Graduate Student Association (AGSA) at Louisiana State University is uniquely positioned to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Africa’s diverse cultures. Our mission is to enrich the educational experience of our members and the wider LSU student body by sharing the rich tapestry of African heritage and contemporary cultural practices.

Our objectives include the following:

1. Cultivating an expansive repository of knowledge about African cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues and disseminating this information through educational events, workshops, and seminars tailored to the interests and academic pursuits of LSU students.

2. Establish AGSA as a vibrant hub for cross-cultural dialog and exchange, where graduate students from various backgrounds can engage in meaningful interactions. We strive to transcend the barriers of ethnicity, nationality, and discipline to build a community that values diversity and inclusivity.

3. Organizing and participating in diverse events, from cultural festivals to academic symposiums, that not only celebrate African cultures but also encourage collaborative learning and understanding among all students. Through these events, we contribute to the global perspective of the LSU community and promote cultural competency.

4. We serve as a caring network for African graduate students and allies at LSU, providing a platform for academic support, professional development, and social engagement.

5. Collaborating with other student organizations, departments, and community groups to amplify the voices of African students and scholars and to advocate for the interests and needs of our members within and beyond the university setting.

By achieving these goals, AGSA aspires to enhance the overall quality of life of LSU students and empower individuals of African descent to share their unique narratives and perspectives, enriching the cultural fabric of our university and the broader society.

The Black Graduate and Professional Student Association's purpose is8/4/2021
1. To provide a support system for minority students enrolled in graduate and professional programs.
2. To serve as a networking organization for minority students and alumni.
3. To provide counseling and advice concerning graduate and professional programs to
students and prospective students.
4. To assist the university in recruiting qualified minority students into graduate and
professional programs.
5. To work with other university organizations to assure the creation of an institutional
environment – both within and outside the classroom – that fosters students' full
personal, academic, and professional development.
6. Achievement of the purpose shall be provided as may be practicable through workshops;
guest speakers, meetings, and other activities which may help the organization meet its purpose and objectives.

The Black Women's Graduate Collective (BWGC) is a non-hierarchical organization that seeks to empower Black women graduate students at Louisiana State University. We recognize that Black women graduate students face unique layered oppressions that can impede mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness. Through culturally responsive pedagogy, community, and spaces specifically catered to Black women, we hope to improve upon the Black woman graduate student experience at Louisiana State University.

ChEGSA serves to support the graduate students of the Department of Chemical
Engineering at LSU. Its purpose shall include the following:
A. Social Events - The organization shall organize social events for the graduate
student body of the Department. These events shall include, but shall not be
limited to, a social event in the fall semester welcoming new graduate students,
and social events in the spring corresponding to the recruitment of prospective
graduate students.
B. Intellectual Development – ChEGSA shall further advance the intellectual
development of the graduate students by coordinating a Seminar Series, in which
graduate students, or faculty, or prospective faculty, or guest speakers will present
on their research to the rest of the graduate student body and any faculty who
choose to attend.
C. Networking – The graduate students of the Department will greatly benefit
from increased opportunities to network, whether with industry, national
laboratory, or academic researchers. ChEGSA will facilitate the networking by
strengthening ties between the Department and alumni of the department who
earned their advanced degrees in Chemical Engineering. Additionally, the
organization shall communicate to the group when fellow members are presenting
their research at conferences.
D. Recruiting – The Department as a whole benefits from enhanced efforts
devoted to recruiting the best possible future graduate students. In this spirit,
ChEGSA shall work to promote the research of the Department and help the
faculty and staff in directing the recruiting efforts.

The Christian Legal Society ("CLS") is an Illinois non-profit corporation with its principal offices in Springfield, Virginia, that exists to inspire, encourage, and equip lawyers and law students, both individually and in community, to proclaim, love and serve Jesus Christ through the study and practice of law, the defense of religious freedom, and the provision of legal assistance to the poor.

Members of the LSU Law community who join this chapter will become part of a Christian community at the law center who studies the Biblical teachings together, here from local Christian legal professionals about living out their faith, fellowship together in events on and off the campus of LSU, and serve our community.

The purpose of CEGO is to provide graduate student representation to the Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences, Department of Environmental Sciences, and the DOCS and ENVS faculty. CEGO also serves in a social capacity and organizes events to promote graduate student social interaction, including tailgates, seafood boils, and mixers. In addition to CEGO's social operations, it provides a number of opportunities for CC&E grad students to get involved in the community; CEGO has a presence at local beach sweeps, education and outreach events (Ocean Commotion, LUMCON's open house), and Earth Day.

It shall be the purpose of this organization to promote awareness of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology via the professional organization American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). This organization is available to all LSU graduate students in Communication Disorders in hopes of bringing students and faculty together through social activities, educational events, and fundraisers. The purpose of the local graduate NSSLHA organization shall be the following: 1. To encourage and promote professional interest among college and university students in the study of human communication sciences and disorders; 2. The Louisiana Cannabis Law Society is a student led organization that aims to advance legal knowledge regarding cannabis in Louisiana by advocating for its constituents, collaborating with various legal entities to disseminate facts, and affecting change through legislation. LCLS provides a forum for all students to further their interest in legal developments of cannabis as well as legal issues relevant to the cannabis industry.

OUTLaw's mission is to create a climate at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center
in which it is safe and comfortable to be openly LGBTQIA+. OUTLaw seeks to

and Astronomy at LSU. Its purpose shall include the following
A. Social Events – The Organization shall plan and host events for the graduate student

camaraderie of the graduate student body in the department. The scope and types of

C. Recruiting - The Organization shall assist the department with the planning and hosting

advocating for their needs to the faculty and staff of the department through a small

PPCP GSA is established for the purpose of broadening the scientific background of members and to better prepare them for careers in agriculture by exposure to concepts and methods in the two sub-disciplines: Plant Pathology and Crop Physiology. Moreover, to provide students with the opportunity to increase their "soft skills" and their professional development by interacting with other students, organizations and attending networking activities. These purposes shall be achieved through workshops, lectures, contact with personnel in the agricultural industry, networking events, readings/discussions/sharing of scientific literature, summer lab protocol sharing sessions, fundraising activities, local outreach activities and others.
